About Genetics Selection Evolution
What is Genetics Selection Evolution? Genetics Selection Evolution is an open access, peer-reviewed, on-line journal dedicated to presenting original research on all aspects of genetics and selection in both farm and experimental animals and in any related species. With the vast, recent increase in the amount and spectrum of available genetic data, there is an ever-increasing requirement for the collaboration and successful integration of varied results and techniques in furthering the advancement of the future of animal genetics. GSE focuses on contributing to these developments by providing a high-visibility forum for the dissemination of relevant research and reviews that will prompt new insights and discussions as well as stimulate new research in the field. The journal invites basic, applied and methodological content that will aid the current understanding of animal genetic variability as well as further its use. GSE publishes results from all levels of study, from the gene to the quantitative trait, from the individual to the population, the breed or the species. Material concerning both the biological approach, from molecular genetics to animal sciences, as well as the mathematical one, from population genetics to statistics, is welcome. Specific areas of interest include: gene identification, mapping, QTL and markers, functional genomics, cytogenetics, genetic diversity of populations and breeds, genetic evaluation, applied and experimental selection, statistical methodology of quantitative and mixed inheritance. Content overview Genetics Selection Evolution considers the following types of articles: Research: reports of data from original research. Reviews: comprehensive, authoritative, descriptions of any subject within the journal’s scope. These articles are usually written by opinion leaders that have been invited by the Editorial Board. Software articles: describe the source code for software applications, tools or algorithm implementations. Typically, an archive of the source code of the current version of the software should be included with the submitted manuscript as a supplementary file. Peer review policy Manuscripts submitted to the journal will be evaluated initially by the Executive Editors, and appropriate manuscripts then sent to associate editors who will choose recognized experts in the field for peer review. The Editors consider the reports of either two or three reviewers when deciding on acceptance or rejection of a manuscript and they aim to provide the first decision within eight weeks. Edited by Didier Boichard, Genetics Selection Evolution is supported by an expert Editorial Board. Publishing in Genetics Selection Evolution All articles are listed in PubMed immediately upon acceptance (after peer review), and are covered by PubMed Central, MEDLINE, Thomson Reuters (ISI), Biosis, CAS, CABI, FSTA, Scopus and Current Contents. Articles in Genetics Selection Evolution should be cited in the same way as articles in a traditional journal. However, because articles in this journal are not printed, they do not have page numbers. Instead, they have a unique article number. The following citation: As an online journal, Genetics Selection Evolution does not have issue numbers. Each volume corresponds to a calendar year. To keep up to date with the latest articles from Genetics Selection Evolution, why not register to receive alerts? Registration also enables you to customise your subject areas of interest, store your searches, and submit your manuscripts. Submission of manuscripts Manuscripts should be submitted electronically to Genetics Selection Evolution using the online submission system. Full details of how to submit a manuscript are given in the instructions for authors. General journal policies Genetics Selection Evolution is published by BioMed Central, part of Springer Science+Business Media. BioMed Central is committed to ensuring peer-reviewed biomedical research is open access. That means it is freely and universally accessible online, it is archived in at least one internationally recognised free access repository, and its authors retain copyright, allowing anyone to reproduce or disseminate articles, according to the BioMed Central copyright and licence agreement. Genetics Selection Evolution however, has taken this further by making all its content open access. Genetics Selection Evolution's articles are archived in PubMed Central, the US National Library of Medicine's full-text repository of life science literature, and also at INIST in France and in e-Depot, the National Library of the Netherlands' digital archive of all electronic publications. The journal is also participating in the British Library's e-journals pilot project, and plans to deposit copies of all articles with the British Library. Genetics Selection Evolution is able to deliver summaries of frequently updated content via Really Simple Syndication (RSS) feeds. These are accessible via the orange "XML" button at the top of the list of recent articles or the list of most accessed articles. For more information about RSS feeds see our publisher's website.
